Learn how to make a DIY Christmas light ball using chicken wire and greenery to add a special holiday touch to your fireplace this winter.
You've decorated the tree and the outside of the house with lights but there's still that empty, unused fireplace that needs a little something extra for the holidays. This easy diy holiday project can put those leftover lights and chicken wire to good use finally! In true southern Christmas style we used some Magnolia leaves and leftover feathers from another decor project. These paired with the Christmas light balls in the fireplace make a great substitute for a fire.
Supplies:
Christmas Lights
Wire Cutters
Needle Nose Pliers
Step 1: Mold the Chicken Wire Into a Ball
We give a full tutorial on how to make these chicken wire balls in our blog here. The great thing about this project is that it's so versatile and you can string them outside on your patio or use in your fireplace like we have here.
Step 2: Decide on Your Greenery
We used some Magnolia leaves we had outside but any sort of greenery will do like leftover tree trimmings or pinecones etc. Anything to add to the holiday spirit and fill the space of the fireplace will work great!
Step 3: Enjoy!
This diy chicken wire ball with Christmas lights is so easy to make that it's perfect for the busy holiday season! Share your pictures on Instagram and make sure to tag us at @makerscorners so we can see all of your lovely displays!
