Garage Makeover Using Pottery Barn Lookalike Wire Baskets

Spring and fall are ideal times to clean out the garage and get organized for the next season! We found these awesome baskets from Pottery Barn to help organize your garage for $129 online so we decided to make our own using wood and wire mesh. Who doesn't dream of having the perfectly organized garage? The clutter that can pile up is really enough to make you have a garage sale every weekend! But with this easy project, you can make your own baskets and finally get that storage space in order!

What you'll need:

• Wire mesh *we used cage wire 30in H x 10ft L with 1/2in x 1in openings because we had it on hand but this roll would also work well. Just depends on what look you want.

• Plywood

• Staple Gun

• Nails

• Hammer

• Gloves

• Wire cutter

Total project cost: $30 (for wood + wire mesh)

Step 1: Line up your boards so that they make an "L" shape on each side and hammer the two pieces of boards together with a nail. In restrospect, we probably should have used a bracket to secure the corners, so you can do that too if you want to prevent any wood from splitting.

You can make the boxes any size you like but we made our bottom one 30in H x 10in W.

Step 2: After you put your boxes together, measure how much wire you will need. Allow 1/2 inch on the sides and bottom so you can wrap the wire around and staple gun it securely to the wood. Cut away any excess wire with wire cutters.

Step 3: And that's it! We didn't put a bottom on the basket since it would be sitting on the ground and could allow dirt and debris to fall through. Repeart the same steps for the smaller basket up top but add a bottom piece of wood.

Before: Hard to find anything--disorganized.

After: A clean organized space to enjoy your garage!
